Caraíva is in an APA – Environmental Preservation Area, and it is therefore, subject to environmental preservation and protection standards.
Being also a Marine Extractive Reserve Zone – Resex, Caraíva fishermen need to respect laws that regulate the activity and establish times and ways of fishing.
Garbage and sewage
A major concern is with waste and sewage. All houses in Caraiva have septic tanks and nothing is thrown into the river. Composting organic waste is also a common practice, as is recycling various materials.
Caraíva thus manages to remain in a different state from other Villas and tourist cities. Nature preserved, trash care and awareness of natives and visitors about the importance of preserving the place.
