Porto do Boi

Aldeia Porto do Boi, about 30 minutes by boat from Caraíva, is home to approximately 30 people of the Pataxó ethnicity in a reserve close to the Monte Pascoal National and Historic Park. It is a small family group that created a Cultural Center open to visitors in 2004 with the aim of promoting the Pataxó indigenous culture.

In 2013, her main lack of income structure dropped her. Since she had to find ways to earn a living and many other people in search of employment and income Como, the Porto do Boi Cultural Center closed its doors.

Today the current leader, Tig Maturemba Baixê, found the community and collaborators to help rebuild the center and revitalize the Pataxó Culture.
